]]> Today, Adam Dunn and Bobby Abreu signed Major League contracts with the Washington Nationals and the LAA Angels, respectively.  Dunn signed a two year, $20 million deal and Abreu got just one year, $5 million plus incentives; which reportedly could reach $8 million total.  These are both contracts that would have been insulting at the end of the 2008 MLB season.  Getting a (semi) healthy 100 RBI player such as Abreu would have seemed unfathomable jut six months ago.

The MLB baseball betting implications of these two signings are significant as well.  We have to update our rankings and projection system to incorporate the added offensive output of these players on the Nats and Angels.  Washington significantly upgrades the middle of their order by adding Dunn, although they are still expected to be a bottom-tier National League offense for 2009.  This will impact MLB run line betting in both leagues; the National League and the American League.
